The SD versions of Belgian broadcaster VRT Een and Canvas will switch to MPEG-4 on the Astra satellite position of 19.2 degrees east on January 1, 2013. The HD versions of the channels are available on Astra at 23.5 degrees East.
KPN’s DTT platform Digitenne is now in the process of changing frequencies for its service to make room for the new LTE services due to start in the 800 MHz band. The Dutch government is currently preparing the issuing of LTE licences.
In the US, news has leaked that Netflix competitor Redbox Instant by Verizon will launch before the end of the year with month subscription prices starting at $6 (€5). The service will be available on iOs, Android, Xbox 360 and certain Samsung devices.
