August 14, 2012 10.59 Europe/London By Robert Briel

--Al Jazeera’s French premium sports channel Bein Sport has said that it has reached 500,000 paying subscribers just two months after its lu=aunch in June. “And we didn’t even begin broadcasting Ligue 1, UEFA Cup, Europa Cup and Spanish league matches,” comment president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

--Aart Verbree, CEO of Dutch cable and fibre operator CAIWay, is leaving the company. He will be replaced by COO Jan Zweegman. CTO Ruud Wielaard is also leaving the company in order to join network operator CIF Operator.

--Sundance Channel will expand its on-demand offerings with a VOD launch on Belgian IPV service Belgacom TV. It has also partnered with Numericable, France’s leading cable operator, to offer exclusive VOD rights for Mad Men to authenticated subscribers as a complement to Sundance Channel’s pre-existing linear service.
