How to upgrade from SSL76

Hi,

I have a DM800 clone with 2.01 SIM running a very old image and SSL76. I would like to upgrade to a recent PLI image.
What shall I do? Can I flash a patched image directly or do I need to perform an SSL update first? How?

What are the recommended steps?

(Sorry for double posting. The forum has huge lag)
