How to install tar.gz formatted image..?

I want to try the latest PKT-image, but can only find it as tar.gz. In telnet, I get an error. "Cannot delete old files..."

Any good advice, or maybe an url for a USB-version?

I think he means just try the flash version of PKT instead of using the normal CRi/DGS based images, if you dont like it you can always go back.

other way is to ftp to /mnt/usb/usb0 and from in there delete everything, then reboot the box.
ftp tar.gz image to /mnt/usb/usb0

in telnet

cd /mnt/usb/usb0
tar zxvf "IMAGENAME.TAR.GZ" without the ""

I'm still a bit confused, but I see a way out. Is the flash version, the one ment for Flashtools? I want to try PKT, but isn't it based on enigma? I have AAF up and running, but I can't find any settings for subtitles, and no support for fancontrol. Hopefully at least one of these features is present in PKT.

I'll try the FTP-solution, as this is the only version I can find of the latest release. :) Thanks a lot!

yes you can get an E2 flash image and use PCEditor ( flash tools ) to flash it. Same way as a normal flash image

just unrar the file to its usb_update.img , same as normal flash image

The problem is that I can't find either usb_update, or flash. If I unrar the file I have, I get all the files from enigma/image. The FTP-trick isn't working either, cause /mnt/usb/usb0 doesnt exist, and I can't create it. I tried with a USB-stick mounted, but it get's mounted under media, and there I'm not able to cd... Strange. Why release images that are so difficult to install.

if you are unraring the file to get loads of files then its not a flash image.

Its an E2 image , for either USB or HDD

Ok, then I follow... tar.gz, which is displaying full enigma structure when unzipped.

If only AAF could have support for subtitles... Well, thanks a lot for your kind help. I'm off to hunt down another enigma image, which supports subtitles, and preferably does come with oscam, or the possibility to download it as plugin/addon.

Hi All

Have the same problem as Kanutten666, just with the AAF_M5873_g1852_ipbox9000_update_enigma2_p41_P179_USBFULL_nodebug.tar
Cant find a guide how to flash my IP9000 box with this image, isent there some kind person, that can make a guide for dummies how to install this? Thanks in advanced.
