Just FTP to your 800 and make the movie folder. /media/hdd/movie and or -s /media/sda1 /media/hdd/movie

If this does not wwork im wondering if there as somehow been some odd partitioning to your drive.

Try remove the drive and format it on a Windows PC fat32 and put it back and re initialise.

If your Windows PC now does not see the drive ive some tools somewhere.

Let us know.

Mate i know what your problem is! The hard drive you have used was used in a PC before the 800! Am i right?

Well you could try use admin tool on PC to delete all partions and try again but this sometimes does not work.

What i find work every time to cure the <100mb problem is to use a Linux distro to format the hard drive.

What i use is Gparted live boot cd.

Google and download gparted burn the iso.
Then with just this harddrive connected enter your bios and boot from cd.

When gparted starts just highlight your hard drive and delete the partitions then highlight the drive again and right click and choose format to ext3.

After formatting all you need to do is pop it back in the 800 and map the location.

Works every time.

I`ve downloaded and ran as advised.
1. It shows the /dev/sda1 as 465.76 GiB and i right selected it and deleted. Now all it shows is unallocated 465.76 Gib.
2. On right clicking i see "New", it shows create partition.
free space preceding (mib),file system (ext3),label(blank),new size(476938 mib.
after successfully running it and putting it back on 800 hD, please can someone help me with a detailed step by step way to load the harddisk. . i`m waiting for further instructions.

Is it
1.first initialize.
2.please help me how to mount or cretae path etc.

you must initialize your HDD.
after that DM800 recoznige your HDD:
- you can record TV on your HDD by press red button on left off remote,
- you can copy film, music, or image to your HDD and play on it by go menu/media player or picture viewer plugin.

Did you run a format on the drive to ext3? Did it say completed?

When it is already formatted to ext3 all i did was use device manager to mount the hard drive and then map the recording paths.

However initializing it should do all the above except maybe map the recording paths.

Hi mate

Ive just done a old Latop drive start to finish to give you better instructions.

1. Connect your HDD to you PC and remove you normal PC Hard Drives.

2. Boot the Gparted Live CD.

3. At the blue screen select don't touch key map.

4. It will then ask for your Language input the number to corresponds with your Language.

5. At the mode screen select 0

6. When you see the Gparted terminal highlight the drive and select delete then apply the action on the big green tick on the task-bar.

7. Now from the task-bar select create partition and select apply.

8. Now highlight the drive again right click and select NEW on that screen just change file system to ext3 then click add.

9. Highlight the drive again and right click format to ext3 then click apply from the task-bar and then apply to the pop-up message.

It will now configure the drive.

Now pop the drive back in the 800 and boot.

Go to device manager and mount the drive. Then map the drive paths to media/hdd.

Just worked first time again.

This procedure is not necessary for new HDD or HDD that have no partitions. This methods will remove the less<100mb problem from any hard drive that has previously been used in in a PC.

Ill also add this is a method i use to overcome the <100mb problem there are probably lots of other methods but telnet formatting never worked in this situation for me.

disk size too small less than 100mb even after gparting

yes after gparting with ex3, i got the status ok completed. On connecting the disk back to dm800 and going to disk manager it shows on top the red unmount tab, green initialize tab and blue setup tab.
top of the status window i see device:/dev/hda
partition:1.size:476.9gb.

bottom of the status window it shows green checkbox ticked with device: /dev/hda1. size:476.9gb. mount point: /media/hda1.

i did the initialize and restarted the unit and it again shows the disk size less than 100gb error.
please tel me a step by step procedure to mount to the proper partition.please have a look at my fstab in earlier post.do i need to change mount or anything on fstab.

On gpartion after ex3 partition it shows, /dev/sda1, ex3, size=465.76gib,used=7.5gib,unused=458.26gib.
