How to backup the flash on DM800HD

Hi guys, I want to install a new image on my Dreambox 800HD. I want to backup my old image so that I'm able to install it again if I don't think the new image is better than the old one. Which utility if any shall I use for doing the backup ?

What image is your old image? I ask as some backup methods are better than others with specific images.

Hi Ferret my old image is a Nabilosat BlackHole from early 2010. Is that info enough for you ?

Yeah but my memory fails me look on the addons panel downloads there should be a backup tool under scripts.

If not install the tspanel and use the tsflashbackup from there it can do original and sim2 clone backups.

Hi Ferret, sorry but I don't find any tspanel among the addon's. I think my image is quite old. I tried installing latest Barry Allen but it complained about the version on my kernel. Is there a way to display the kernel version ? / rasod

Further more, I tried with dFlash. It created to files xxx.nfo and xxx.nfi the size of the xxx.nfo was 148B and xxx.nfi 0B ! So that didn't work either. I tried to flash with dFlash just to see what happened, it complained about that my /lib/libc-2.3.90.20 was tyoo old it should at least be 2.10.2.30 I'm really stuck, is there really no way to take a backup of the image I have installed ? / rasod

Press green then yellow and look in script downloads, there should be backup scripts there as i say long time ago i used this image.

You have to manually install the TS panel

Hi Ferret, OK so now I have installed TS-panel. I did a manual install, the strange thing is that TS-panel does not show up among my plug-in's. The scripts get created under /usr/scripts and I can run them after chmod them to 755. But no TS-panel among my plug-in's ... What am I doing wrong ?

TSpanel is incompatible with old images with kernel 1.5 and also this apply to most of recent plugins,so i see no choice other than flashing new image and do you settings again

Hi mfaraj57, when I run KernelVerion.sh it says:
Linux Version 2.6.12-5.1-brcmstb-dm800 how is that to kernel 1.5 that you've written ? Yes, a lot of silly questions but hey I'm trying to learn something remeber that I'm a newbie on this !

Mate sorry about the bad info i had forgotten Nabilo was so old and incompatible with TSpanel

I can not remember what i use to use to backup that image in those days maybe it was older version of Barry Allen i don't remember.

Hi Ferret, I appreciate your help very much but maybe it is time to face the fact and install a new image without backing up the old one ! Because I don't think none of the new tools can help me. Can I have a suggestion about which image to use ? I want to CCcam within it and ofcourse I want to be able to install plugins !

For me EDG Nemesis or OpenPLI !

EDG is fully featured OpenPLI lees so but can be built into a fantastic image with a few plugins like crossepg etc.

Ferret are you familiar with VuDuo ? In my VuDuo I use the VIX team image 2.2.100 would you say that OpenPli is similar to that. Would be good to know so the rest of the family also can handle the box ...

Vix is based on OpenPLI but they have skin and bluepanel added to it and plugin tweak with epgs etc..
