Help with backup images + reflash...

Hi,

I installed latest OPENPLI nightbuild for DM800SE, set eveything up how I wanted it and then did a backup image (using DCC + dflash).

I think I screwed something up trying to install the wrong version of TSMedia panel so I thought I'd reflash with my backup .nfi image. (itV and bbci player suddenly stopped working)

... but when I reboot my DM it auto-enters DHCP STOP mode and just flashes the IP address.

(I sent the backup straight to a mounted PC hard drive on the network - but presumably that has nothing to do with it)

What did I do wrong?

ok - thanks Ferret

I downloaded NFI-flash via TS-Panel but it doesn't show in the plugins/extension menu for some reason. The one you linked to is "NFI-Image Tools" so maybe its different...

Anyway... I'll do a manual install but i get confused by this...

If I have latest openPLI 3.0 on a DM800SE, do I go for the middle one of the three?

images OE-1.6 and openpli 2.1

all models OE2.0 images and openpli3.0(except dm800 oe2.0 images)

dm800 oe2.0 images

okay - I installed that middle one anyway - got it working...

I tried to "flash backup" my image (to a mounted drive) and it told me it needed to restart due to limited swap space. It created an nfi file but only 150kb or so - so I'm guessing that didn't work.

Not sure what the difference between "flash backup" and "extract image" is.

To a mounted drive ? internal or external ?

Did you set up the backup location before trying to backup ?

it was an external drive on a PC on the network.... that seems to have been the problem

Just plugged in a USB pen and it seems to be working now !

okay - I'm not sure if the NFI to USB worked or not but now I'm trying to backup flash to my internal hard drive on the DM800SE A8P and it only creates a flash file the size of 152KB - a long way short of 50mb.

?

So...

dflash - I retried this but backing up onto local hard drive rather than network mounted drive - but I still get the same crash message on bootup

nfiflash - only creates a file 150kb - tried flashing to usb pen and local hard drive

are there any other "methods" for backing up the image?

Ive backed up openpli 3 with this plugin, make sure you have used the one specifc to openpli 3.

Make sure the usb stick is mounted correctly too and you choose the usb as the backup location before running the backup

well I downloaded it via the plugins/download panel so I assume it will have selected the correct version?

it does copy the file to the USB pen/hard drive but it is only 152Kb - so I also assume they are mounted correctly and the file path is correct.

Ive linked to the version I use on 2.1 on the streaming problem thread you have.

Manually install that version.
