Help needed duo won't boot up

Hi guys, I have vti 5 image installed and did a service scan today. When I came back after 20 mins every thing was blank.so I switched off from the back and now the vuplus won't boot up past the red light. I have disconnected the usb and even tried reflashing but there is no display on the front except the red light.I can hear the internal hdd spinning when the power is on. Any ideas how to get this box started?

Hi mate

You say you can hear the hdd running inside the stb i would suggest removing the hdd and any other usb device and power down for 30mins then try again this might clear the problem otherwise what i mentioned in the other linked post with cap change is another solution which as i mentioned if your not happy about doing seek a satellite/tv repair shop to do.

well iv tried disconnecting hard drive,that didnt do anything.ive tried reflashing with serial and that didnt work either.ive been quoted £45 from a place in birmingham to fix it .they say it is most likely a clone and a common problem. i bought this in good faith from ukdreamshop about 3 years ago and it was advertised as a genuine vu plus duo box.

Hi mate

Fault is just not common with clone boxes and thinking back if you purchased 3 years ago then if im right no clone was about that time £45.00 sounds alot more cheaper than i was quoted but worth spending if you dont want a door stop

I have ordered 330uf capacitor and will try that solution. If that doesn't work than its the £45 repair man job. Thanks for all your helpful input guys
