Google acts against Polish piracy

Google has acceded to a request from Cyfrowy Polsat to block weeb.tv, which illegally distributes the Polish company’s channels in real time on the internet.
In a statement, Cyfrowy Polsat says the action has been taken in accordance with the US’s Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
On entering a search for a channel such as JimJam Polsat, Polsat Film and Polsat Crime & Investigation, the following message appears on either the first or subsequent pages:
In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DCMA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.
Google goes on to say that (weeb.tv) distributes TV channels, among those owned by Cyfrowy Polsat, without permission.
Cyfrowy Polsat meanwhile says that the legal distribution of Polsat channels over the internet is only undertaken by ipla, which belongs to Cyfrowy Polsat.
Weeb.tv is currently offering viewers a total of 82 Polish and international channels and series on a live basis.
It also provides ‘premium’ packages at prices ranging from PLN3.99 (€0.94) to PLN55.99 for three and 90 days respectively.
