STEVEN GERRARD’S hamstring woes could have secured Yossi Benayoun’s long-term Liverpool future.
The Israeli winger looked set to quit this summer in search of regular starts.
But Benayoun, 28, has been superb since getting a run in the side after Gerrard was crocked — and Kop boss Rafa Benitez wants to offer him a new deal.
He said: “Yossi has grown in confidence with the more games he has played since Stevie got injured. He’s done really well.
“Yossi’s happy here. I’ll speak to him about a new deal.”
