Hi ! Sorry for my ignorance and my stupid question but as I am no Linux expert i find the update in the sticky thread regarding the backup still difficult to understand.
1. Unzip image - Why do I need to unzip ??When I access the VU+ Solo2 from my PC with WIN7 Explorer I can see a folder name vuplus with another folder solo2 - in this folder i see 4 files . these files are not with a zip suffix
2. Format a USB FAT32 - Done this but do i need to create any partition ?
3. Copy the folder to the root of the USB - Can I just copy using my Win7 and copy the vuplus folder to the USB or do I need to do it with another program ??
4. Connect USB
5. Turns VU + Solo2
6. Press power button to start

Sorry for these basic questions but I dont want to do something stupid I will later regret .
Thanks Mony

You dont have to unzip if the file is in zip format, i do but that me. All you need to do is unzip and drag the vu folder to your usb stick in windows its that easy.

Thanks for your answer. I think what is confusing with this issue of the ZIP files is the fact that if you are downloading a firmware upgrade for the VU its probably in zip format. What one fails to mention is the fact that when you produce your own backup to your HDD they are stored unzipped hence there is no need for unzipping them. From someone who is more familiar to Windows explorer when you see a text written move it to the root directory you immediately think that you need to create such directory name. I guess the meaning is to copy the 'vuplus' folder to the first level of the USB .
