French TV channels active with catch-up
December 19, 2012 09.07 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The free DTT channels continue to expand their offer of catch-up TV, according to the French video portal TV-replay.fr.

The study conducted by CNC on behalf of TV-replay.fr, 59% of all programmes broadcast between 17.00 and midnight on the French DTT networks are offered on their catch-up TV sites. In November 2011, the share was 56%.

The traditional broadcasters (TF1, M6, France Televisions) are still ahead in the number of programmes they offer on catch-up.

About 75% of their programmes broadcast on early evening and prime time are available.

France 2 is way ahead with 90% of the programmes available on demand.

with regards to the new DTT channels, coverage rates are low and highly variable: they range between 23% to 69%.

Established in April 2009 by Arnaud Mary and Patrick Suquet, TV-replay.fr is the first guide to catch-up TV. It is now owned by Lagardère Active.

The portal lists all the TV programmes available free to view on legal sites from the broadcasters themselves.

The total audience in November 2012 was 3.4 million unique visitors (Google Analytics).
