ESPN renews CanalSat agreement
10.24 Europe/London, July 28, 2011 By Julian Clover

ESPN has secured its position in the CanalSat bouquet after signing a new agreement with the French pay-TV operator.

It means ESPN America and ESPN Classic will continue to receive carriage on the Astra-delivered platform in France, Monaco and French-speaking Switzerland.

“For nearly a decade, we’ve had a strong relationship with CanalSat, and we’re very pleased to continue that long-standing collaboration and to deliver outstanding sports content to the passionate sports fans in France,” said Murray Barnett, vice president, sports channels & syndication, ESPN EMEA. “ESPN America continues to grow behind the increase in popularity of US sports in France and across Europe, and the recent update to ESPN Classic offers CanalSat subscribers a fresh and passionate look at the biggest legends and moments in sports with a unique editorial voice.”

Forthcoming highlights on ESPN Classic include the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Legends of the Barclays Premier League and France in the Rugby World Cup.

ESPN America is included as part of the CanalSat sport pack with comprehensive Major League Baseball coverage, the Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend and the X Games 17 from Los Angeles.
