Elderly woman hits seven parked cars
TORONTO, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Toronto police said an elderly woman caused nearly $120,000 in damage to eight vehicles when she lost control of her car in a parking lot.
Toronto Police Constable Wayne Thompson said the 83-year-old woman "somehow lost control of her vehicle" in the Cliffcrest Plaza strip mall lot Thursday afternoon, "hit the accelerator and went speeding through the parking lot," the Toronto Sun reported Friday.
Thompson said three of the vehicles the woman struck were totaled along with her Mazda 3.
"Hundreds of shoppers were nearby, and we're extremely fortunate there were no injuries," Thompson said. "One woman was just a couple of feet from her car when it was struck."
Thompson said the driver did not appear to be injured but was sent to a hospital as a precaution.
