Hi there I found a Echolink el-777 fta receiver in a skip, and have been happily using this great piece of equipment for a few weeks. I have a few problems at the moment and wonder if any of you guys can help me upgrade this machine!?. I have purchased a null modem cable (fully wired), but i have read on a lot of forums that it should not use handshaking 
. When I try to upgrade using Ali Mini 6.10 is receive the following errors.
Please power on your STB.
Open Serial Port..
Sync to serial port..
Get Client protocol version & chunk
Time out when read data!
I am completly baffled and was wondering if i was to hack away at the cable and just make it use non hand shaking (just use 2-3 3-2 5-5) would this correct the problem?
Also, I d/l'd sw_V1.3.7_011410-2.bin is this the latest update or is there a newer update available. Also, am i using the correct loader as stated above?
Oh by the way, the information that I can see in the system settings of the the EL777, I don't think this has ever been upgraded - i can supply these details if it will help.
Anyway, I hope someone can help me out as I am seriously losing my hair, the carpet looks like a real shag pile lmao.
