Dutch ‘pirate’ TV channel 192TV launches
09.20 Europe/London, August 31, 2011 By Robert Briel

The Dutch golden oldies channel 192TV today launches as a 24/7 music channel specialising in music from the sixties and seventies from the era of offshore radio.

The launch date of August 31 was chosen as it was on this day that Dutch ‘pirate’ radio station Veronica ceased broadcasts in 1974. The name 192TV is taken from the original wavelength on which Radio Veronica used to broadcast from the high seas, 192 metres medium wave.

The channel is an initiative of Ad Bouman, Rene Kroon and Bert van Breda.

192TV is available on cablers Ziggo, CAIWay, and CAI Harderwijk and on the FTTH networks served by Glashart Media.
