HI how i watch on my pc is thought the Enigma web interface
you also can do this enter the ip of your dreambox in the adderss bar of your pc then press enter if it ask you for name and passwork its NAME=ROOT PASSWORD=DREAMBOX ONCE THE PRESS YOUR VLC and it come on your pc

CIFS on a Dreambox
having a play about with this and seems to be working fine. recordings seem flawless.
first make a folder on your computer and call it something simple like dbox.
now open it and create a folder inside called movie.
now go back to the first folder (dbox),right click and select sharing and security, tick share this folder and allow users to write.
now on your DB
menu,settings, expert settings, communication settings, blue button(mounts)
IP - your pc's IP adress
Pull Down Box - CIFS
DIR - your shared folder on your PC
Local Dir - /mnt/hdd
Options - RW
Extra - should be filled already
User - dream
Pass - dream
press mount, if it worked tick automount then save.
if you are a 500 user you have to use a web browser and hit the record button on there or if you are using gemini, map the quickbutton to DVR thanks to dave mak

Try lowering your firewall to start with see if that helps. And as explained your need a movie folder in you mount name the folder in lower case.
