Hi,

I'm thinking of getting myself a Dreambox. :yahoo:
As the DM8000 is not out yet I would like to know some opinions on which one I should buy while waiting for the DM8000 to surface.

Should I go for the cheaper DM600 or spend more and get the DM7020?
I want to use the box for CS.

Thanks in advance :thanx:

Well if you are just looking for something to fill in the time until dm8000 comes I'd suggest going with cheapest one, dm500. It will give you all functionality that others can give you, unless you really want hd. But you can record to your pc hd from dm500 so even that is not an issue.

oki,

What do I gain by getting a DM7020 instead of a DM600?
Secondly, what do I loose by getting a DM600? emus? images?

:thanx:

You do loose image support by choosing dm600, but I am sure that should change soon. It has only been released recently, so people didn't have time to produce images for it. As for emus, I think already available emus should work fine on dm600.

thanks m8

I know the difference in hardware, sorry for not posting my question correctly.

My concern was more software related, but as you kindly pointed out the only drawback for the moment is the lack of images.

If current emus work on DM600 then I should be fine. :thum:

I have only used the 7020 and have found it to be good, frustrating at times but I would recommend it

Since my Xcruiser just died i had the same question and i'll think i will go with dm7020 if that helps due to much greater support at this time than dm600.

i've had a DM-7020 for over a year with no problems at all.

many of my friends who have the DM-500 (which is infact the same as the 600 but w/out hd) complain of problems in CS which i think is mainly due to the limited capacity of ram that 500 has vs. 7020.

also, with the 7020 you can add either a cf card or usb stick & create a swap file to increase the ram even more.
