Disney takes off in Russia
February 16, 2012 11:26 By Chris Dziadul
Disney Channel is already making its presence in the Russian TV marketplace and could soon even pose a threat to established players such as CTC Media.
According to Kommersant, the channel had an average national daily audience share of 3.6% in January, or two and a half times more than Seven, which previously used its frequency.
Walt Disney Company acquired a 49% stake in Seven from YUTV Holding for $300 million (€228.5 million) last October.
It then rebranded Seven as the Disney Channel and stopped distributing the latter via cable.
