Nearly two in three of Hungarian TV subscribers now opt for digital services.

Data published by the regulator NMHH shows that as of this March, 64.7% of the 2,831,183 subscriptions of Hungary’s 11 major TV companies were for digital TV, up from 60% a year earlier.

The total number of digital cable and IPTV subscriptions stood at 891,314, while the wireless (DTH and MMDS) total was 915,895.

The pay-DTT service MinDig TV Extra also continued to grow, ending the month with 87,991 subscribers.

UPC remained the leading provider of TV services in Hungary irrespective of technology, claiming a market share of 26.7%.

It was followed by T-Home and Digi, running almost neck-and-neck at 23.2% and 23.1% respectively, Invitel (3.4%), Tarr (3%) MinDig TV Extra (2.7%) and PR-Telekom (2.5%).

UPC was also the leader in the wired sector (27.4%), while Digi claimed top spot in wireless broadcasting (34.3%).
