i have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-5500
got it some while ago..
i wonder if i get a card like a TBS 6928, will my reception improve ?

like the feeds from spanish competition, i get 99% in dvbviewer and still seeing some blocks in the video.

and sometimes i have signal at 97% its showing in dvbviewer.
then the signal is gone, and pops back and so on
is this because of the dvb card ? or do i need to adjust the dish ?

thx

You need to eliminate other factors first before deciding for sure its your DVB card that's faulty. Could be your lnb? Could be the coax/f connectors?

If your getting 'blocky' video this could be down to your PC processing power/Graphics card

I always get misleading figures for signal strength using DVBviewer or any other DVB software for that matter. Can you not tune them into a STB to get the signal strength to see if it is indeed weak? If it isn't weak, it may be a as clubfoot says, your PC is not up up the job, try opening task manager and monitor you CPU usage.

Bear in mind, whilst most graphics cards can handle H264, they can't handle 4:2:2, which the La Liga feeds are.

thnx for the pointers.
lnb = inverto black, with hirschmann coax cable.
so this shouldnt be the problem.
i have a i7 cpu with 8gb ram. it uses the nvidia chips from the processor.
will test the signal strenght at STB when i got time.

Jut because you have good branded equipment, it doesn't mean they won't fail. I had a faulty inverto lnb a few years ago. Try with a stb as Dave suggests then if the problem persists you know it's either a cable/lnb/dish issue
