Date set for Multichoice Nigeria hearing

Digital satellite TV service Multichoice Nigeria has been requested by the Federal High Court in Lagos to file an undertaking to pay damages to the collection society Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) if it is found that the broadcaster used MCSN member works in its broadcasts without the correct license.
A hearing has been set for 15 March after Multichoice Nigeria made a request to the court to restrain MCSN from making royalty claims. The collection society has demanded payments from the broadcaster of NGN5 billion (€24 million).
