Cyfrowy Polsat consolidates

The shareholders of Poland’s Cyfrowy Polsat have decided to simplify its group structure through a cross-border merger.
This will see Cyfrowy Polsat, based in Warsaw, acquire its subsidiary Metelem Holding, based in Cyprus.
According to local reports, the move is being undertaken in order to simplify the group’s capital structure and reduce its operating costs.
Cyfrowy Polsat, whose assets include Poland’s leading pay-TV platform of the same name, along with the national commercial broadcaster Polsat and a growing portfolio of thematic channels, acquired Metelem in 2014.
The latter’s assets include Polkomtel, which operates the mobile company Plus.
