hello

the heating on DM 800 is due to the turner and it possition which is flat and not from the HDD. I hope the new design the turner will be like for DM 7020S in parallel therefore the heating may be reducd. i hope

That cooling mod does not do much!
I did the same with my DM800 and the HDD temp was still 58 D.
I also had to "blow" into the fan to get it started, as it´s just gets 5V. from the USB.

Then I bought a HDD cooler with 2 fans, mounted it on top of DM and now it´s 38 D. And I dont have to "Blow" to get it started, and it´s very silent!

So anyone thats wants to cool down the DM800, buy a HDD fan!

this work for me,HDD temp is 33 today

I now run a 12volt 80cm PC fan on top of my 800 secured with small adhesive pads.

It runs very slow on 5 volts but runs without manually starting it and temps are really low 35.

I power it from the internal USB socket.

What i did for mine is :


I got one of these laptop cooling pads, that often use 1 or 2 usb fans. So i took that, stripped it from the casing and stuff, and i did cut the cables to make them smaller, and i placed it in top of my box blowing air from the box and not in it, ( thus making it less dusty ) and it works wonders.
