Canal+ Spain continues subscriber erosion
July 29, 2013 10.09 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Prisa’s pay-TV subscribers continue to fall as the Canal+ branded service lost 60,000 subscribers in the three months between April and June, twice that of the preceding period.

In all the Canal+ satellite platform has lost 88,119 subscribers in the first six months of 2013. Its saving grace is that the overall market share has increased, because of falls elsewhere.

While cablenet ONO has been promoting its new TiVo product, Canal has the iPlus decoder that is currently in 606,876 households with an additional 32,000 purchasing the advanced decoder and HD PVR device in the last 12 months.

Prisa’s Pay TV revenues reached €598.35 million and recurring EBITDA stood at €32.85 million.

Satellite ARPU stood at an average of €42.9 in the second quarter.

278,024 satellite subscribers also take the YOMVI OTT service available on computers, tablets and iPhones.
