Canal Plus could move on TV Numeric
November 26, 2012

Canal Plus could make an offer for insolvent digital-terrestrial pay TV service TV Numeric, according to local reports.

According to a report on news channel’s BFMTV’s website, Canal Plus could be about to make an offer that would add TV Numeric’s 35,000 pay TV subscribers to its own base.

TV Numeric declared itself insolvent in October following a series of reverses including the shutdown of channels TPS Star and CFoot, laving its with only five pay services.

TV Numeric made cumulative losses of €39 million over the last three years, and posted revenues of €3.75 million in 2011. The service is set to close at the end of the year if no backers are found.

TV Numeric’s move into receivership in October did not affect its SelecTV subsidiary, which was allocated a DTT frequency by media regulator the CSA to offer video-on-demand services over the air.

Canal+ interested in TV Numeric?
November 27, 2012 10.43 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Canal+ might be interested in acquiring the assets of the French DTT pay platform TV Numeric including 35,000 subscribers, according to BFMTV.

The company has been in receivership since October 4 after having accumulated EUR 39 million in losses during the past three years. During 2011 TV Numeric achieved a turnover of EUR 3.75 million (+36%).

TV Numeric is a DTT platform that sells a bouquet of thematic channels, but during the past years has lost a number of channels: Canal J, AB1, TPS Star and C Foot.

At the moment, the offer consists of just five channels (Eurosport, Paris Première, LCI, TF6 and Planet +), available at EUR 9.90 per month.

TV Numeric is for 90% owned by industrialist Hugh B. d’Annnoux, who also owns software publisher Logiways.

The receivership does not affect the terrestrial push-VOD service SelecTV. Although the CSA has issued a licemnce, the service has not yet started.
