Please help, I've loaded the Nightly Enigma 2 to IPbox9000, trying to get Crossepg to work. When I try to upload the new rcS file back to etc/init.d none of my editors will allow this. I'm guessing its some sort of file protection but how do I remove it.

You have to use a Linux/unix compatible editor like Notepad ++ not Wordpad or any other crap.

Thanks for reply, I've tried with notepad ++ and when I try and update the rcS file back to the box it won't update it.... Its like it is write protected.

Thanks again, tried all that, even tried telnet chmod, the file is chmodded to 755 and will not change, whatever I do, I think I will try to load an original DGS image and try again with enigma 2. I am running without a hard drive at the moment, but I can't see that having an effect on it.

On a flashed image the rootfilesystem ("/") is mounted read only (ro).
You can see that by using the mount command.
If you want to start something, when you start the box, you have to look in /var/etc.
There you probably have something like rcS or rcS_user.sh. In one of those file you can put the startup command.

As far as I know, there is no way to remove the RO attributes.
I have struggled with this for some time but did not succeed.
The Tideglo image you are using has the /var/etc/rcS_user.sh, which you can edit. for example insert :
/var/bin/oscam -b -c /var/keys

to start oscam

Ok I see what its all about now, not tried Oscam yet, but I can see how it works. I've had no success installing Crossepg as the ro attribute is not allowing crossepg to install all files. Think I need to get an image installed on USB or hardrive to get rid of this ro problem.
Thanks to all for info.
