Cable puzzle to solve

Hi all,

Just to see if anyone has any insight on this problem.
I use my cable provider's card in the IP Box 9000HD.MGcamd
clears about 40 SD channels.(My sat tuner picks up freefriew SD and HD with HDMI output on both).

Visible on my cable list are 5 HD channels. Signal and quality are shown, but the screen is black for all. Cable provider says I can only get HD if I buy their decoder/HDD recorder box. Needs a technicians visit to fix it up.

Any creative ideas on how my provider filters these HD signals, which the IP BOX identifies. Are there any other emulations apart from Mgcamd that would clear these HD channels ?

In fact the SD channels upscaled are excellent on my full HD TV.
But I would like have those HD channels!

Thanks Makbar,

Some issue here about needing to activate the HD part for 'authors rights' reasons ( I have a subscription and a card).
With the providers HD decoder I think that this is automatic - just wondering if the IP BOX would facilitate the same activation.

The internal card reader wont read your card, you will need a dragon cam or other external type of card reader.
or you could use cs from your dreambox.

some people say with different drivers you can get it to read a vm sub's card but i haven't got it to work..

Jamie,

My IP BOX 9000HD internal card reader is reading my card. That's how I clear 40 SD channels. There's a huge discussion on a local forum about how/why the provider activates the 5 HD channels ( which I can see on my channel list, see a level/quality signal but only get a black screen). HD subscribers have to pay for a CISCO HD decoder, requiring the visit of a technician followed by activation of the HD channels. Some areas cannot receive, but mine is OK.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of this process. And if there is an easy solution ( like press V+, V-, REC simultaneously and the HD channels self-activate!)
