An Ohio bus service for people with disabilities said a commendation may be in the future for a driver who found $1,220 in his vehicle and promptly returned it.
Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service driver Ron Guy said he found the roll of $20 bills on his bus after dropping off four passengers on a recent afternoon and contacted the dispatch service, The (Toledo) Blade reported Monday.
"I couldn't believe it was all money, just folded up in a big wad in the middle of the seat," Guy said. "I counted to a thousand, and then I quit."
"I never even thought about keeping it," he said. "I wouldn't have felt right about keeping that money. No way."
Jon Elston, director of paratransit services for the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority, said the money was traced back to a female passenger who apparently had just cashed her disability check.
Elston said he is drafting a formal commendation for Guy to propose to the transit authority's board of trustees.
