BSkyB lands rights to Ryder Cup through 2018

By Tom Eames

BSkyB has been granted the rights to the next three Ryder Cup tournaments.

Ofcom gave consent for the satellite broadcasting company to broadcast live coverage of the 2014, 2016 and 2018 events.

Sky Sports 4 will air live coverage of this year's tournament between the USA and Europe, with the channel temporarily being named Sky Sports Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup 2014 will take place in Gleneagles, Scotland from September 23 to 28.

Meanwhile, the BBC will continue to broadcast highlights on BBC Two and BBC Radio 5 Live.
