Sorry if this sounds dumb,but what is DM500HD bootloader secondstage.
1-when would you use it.
2-why would you use it.
I've flashed my box several times using mini usb connection with no problem.

the secondstage bootloader is like a security measure from DMM and is on a sim card in your receiver.

on the dreamboxes with an led screen on the front you see the secondstage bootloader on bootup,so i guess with the new DM500HD you would have to telnet to find out what bootloader you have.

i got #79 and want to have back #78

Just re-flash with the image that had bl78 mate and you'll be back on bl78. Any bl78 image of your choose will do.

The boot loader is flashed with the image so whatever your image has will be the boot loader you end up with

hmm...

i just flashed my box with Gemeni2-500

but still i get this :
Booloader version: Dreambox Second Stage Loader BUILD #79, built 20100605

what are the ipk files for?

We dont allow Gemini mate so im not sure what bl that image was built on.

Have a look in this section and read the readme file till you find image built on bl78 and flash that.
