Hi all, I'm new to the forum!

I've been using Linux STBs for quite a few years now and thought I'd have a look at the Sunray SR4 triple tuner now that it supports DVB-T2. I usually use Open PLi images, but which is currently the best image for Sunray triple tuner boxes?

OK thanks, I will look at that image today for this box. I must admit that I tried a modified OpenATV 4.2 image on a Ferrari DM800HD and found it slow and clunky, I hated the skin and changed it to the default black skin similar to Open PLi.

The supplier sent this Sunray box with some really old Gemini type image installed - it didn't even have the WIFI driver installed! I immediately reflashed with an original Open PLi image which works fine, I've been using these with an A8P DM800SE box without a problem for ages so I know they work. I have noticed that the Open PLi team are currently having problems with their nightly builds process which is a bit of a worry.

I am a litte confused about the DVB-T2 tuner, I originally modified the satellites.xml file setting up a satellite with the DVB-T frequencies. This worked fine and found the HD channels and switched beetween tuners OK. Then I found the tuner driver (trialtuner20b_dm800se_sr4_oe20.ipk), installed it and again it switched between tuners ok, but it would NOT find the HD channels. I've read that it has a problem with 256QAM? My local TV transmitter is using the following transmission standards:-

DTG-3 64QAM 8K 2/324.1Mb/s DVB-T MPEG2
DTG-6 256QAM 32KE 2/340.2Mb/s DVB-T2 MPEG4
DTG-8 64QAM 8K 3/427.1Mb/s DVB-T MPEG2
DTG-12 QSPK 8K 3/48.0Mb/s DVB-T MPEG2
DTG-2 16QAM 2K 3/418.1Mb/s DVB-T MPEG2
H/V: aerial position (horizontal or vertical)

So the question is whether the driver is actually useable with DVB-T2?

with sim A8P you can use any original image, test Merlin 3.0, it's very efficient

Yes I think it is a recent update and the Freeview HD works really well and provides a great picture. Using the manual scan method finds 145 UK services, however I do not think it is compatible with trial tuner driver. To be honest i don't really see what advantage the driver gives you?

I bought the Sunray triple tuner for a friend who needed Freeview HD and Freesat and set it up for him. At the same time I also bought a replacement triple tuner at a cost of $38 for my DM800SE which currently only has a single sat tuner. Unfortunately and ironically that seems to have a duff sat tuner in that it cannot pick up the high frequencies so I suspect there is an issue with the LNB tone switching so I'm waiting to hear from the supplier. T2 is fine!!

As a store of money to look for the normal channels of you may be used in Open PLI, I have no such problem .............. easier for the viewer to buy a card that will not have problems ;)
