A252comb Channel List edit

Hello,

can somebody please tell me how to edit the Channel List on a PC ?
I have tried over the RS232 port with the A252Combo_3606_Editor, but even reading from STB does not work.

I have also dumped the channel list on the A252 combo (over USB), it produces a .bin file, that is not recognised by any app in the Ferguson tool box1.0a

Thanks !

I have found the Problem. I have used the Firmware 1.22B5_patch and that was the Problem.

With the Firmware v1.23B2_patch the A252Combo_3606_Editor works fine.

STB->USB with "dump"
then edit/save the channel list with A252Combo_3606_Editor
USB->STB with "update userdb"

for receivers Series 152/252, the correct channel list only as a bin*

Hi Jakitaki,

I could not find any Software capable to edit the bin file.

However, the way like I described it, does work with the backup.abs created by the A252combo with "dump"

You can try this:

1. Download the A252Combo_3606_Editor from Ferguson Homepage.
2. Open your List with the editor
3. Export as list.abs
4. Copy to list.abs to USB stick, insert the stick in the A252
5. Upgrade userdb, select list.abs as file to use.

Impossible

I have an Ariva 252 with the last original firmware (1.25B4), but I've tried also with the original 1.23B2 and several patch firmwares...
I have a pendrive NTFS formatted, recognized by my Ariva 252.
I make an automatic search of channels.
I go to upgrade by USB and choose "Dump" (file name backup.abs).
I load it on Ariva 3606 editor downloaded from Ferguson Homepage selecting User Data Base on load.
I make some changes.
I export it with abs form (by the way, Editor asks me again if I want Default Data Base or User Data Base... something that I have not read before - It doesnt matter cause I've tryed both).
I put the file again on pendrive and put pendrive in my Ariva 252.
I go to upgrade by USB and choose "userdb" and the .abs file exported.
I CLICK ON START AND A FLASHING MESSAGE OF ONE SECONDS SHOWS:
"BIN DO NOT MATCH. DO YOU STILL WANT TO UPGRADE?"
I can't choose nothing (it's only a flash message with no option to choose).
If i retry, allways the same thing happens...

I'VE TRYED WITH SEVERAL FIRMWARES, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS.
I'VE TRYED ON ANOTHER ARIVA 252 (I have 2 right now), AND THE SAME!
I'VE EVEN MAKE A DUMP AND TRYED TO UPLOAD IT WITH USERDB (without editing it), AND THE SAME!!!

I've even tryed another option like default.db and I had to recover the Ariva with RS232... twice.

WTF AM I DOING WRONG? I AM GOING CRAZY!!!

Thx in advance!

Go to the Information Menu and let me now what number you have on HW Version.
I guess you have 37032! (While working 252 STBs have 37050).

By the way, someone on a spanish forum told me about it was a known problem that will be fixed on the new firmware (I don't know where he got the info).

If you are risky you can try to erase eprom (menu - information - and push 36363), and try then to load a firmware.
I'm gonna wait for the new firmware, but if you try it please, let me know the result.

Good luck.

Yes you guess right,
I am sorry I did not stick with the 250,
anything I can think of you seem to have tried already , using a 250 channel list etc, I have no RS232 cable or port so I can not be risky, I see on a Irish forum as on here reference to firmware version 1.23B2 "Fixed save a list of channels in BIN format for models 152 and 252" however this firmware version did not seem to fix the fault for you either?

sorry tomek, do you mean to do a full scan and save that all channel list in .bin format to a usb stick, then edit that all channel list on the ariva_3606_editor programme, then save the edited list as a .bin file to usb and reload onto the STB..... this is my thinking however I have a problem in that as mentioned earlier in this thread, the editor does not see or read the .bin file.

as aprasha stated, I can now also confirm that working ariva 252 STB's(without this problem)have HW version 37050,
while ariva 252 STB's with this problem have HW version 37032 installed.

there is no word for the channel list in the format Bin *

Try different:
Rip backup receiver
Edit the channel list, its original editor
then save it to the backup, as the Default Data Base
upload to the receiver, backup, as allcode + bootloader
after flashing, reset to factory settings

Goal !
success at last without bricking it, thanking you for your expertise the HW version is now correct at 37050....

fyi, I done as you instructed above, when opening the channel list in the editor_3606_program I selected "user data base" as per instruction, and when saving the edited list to usb stick I highlighted "default Data Base" (I am unsure if this selection makes any difference, however you mention Default Data Base so I selected that option when prompted to do so while saving the file).
also
everything is ok after flashing all are channels ok, after I done the factory reset I lost all the channels, the satellite channels came back after maybe a minute, the terrestrial channels did not come back at all, and no channels/signal where found when I attempted to do an auto or manual terrestrial search, then when I tried to do a standard channel list upload I was still getting no signal message on the terrestrial channels,
However when I went to repeat your instruction from the start (& without doing a factory reset to fix the terrestrial channels) after powering off & on the STB again the terrestrial channels were back on, so perhaps it was just a simple case/normal practice of powering off the STB at the mains after doing the factory reset to re-sycn the terrestrial tuner.

aprasha this works, try it out.

Cheers,
Noel
