I have a 1 Metre Motorized Dish hung on a Chimney on top of the house at the moment and I would like to replace it with a 1.2 Metre Dish.

I want a better signal on 52 East, to get channels from 7 West and also to try to get 62 East.

What other equipment do I need ?

How big a Pole do I need for a 1.2 Metre Dish ?

Thanks very much

the best installation for a dish is ground mounted especially if you have a good line of sight to due south and east-west.i am very lucky where i live i have clear line of sight to east west and due south.
where as if i lived across the road that would not be ideal at all.

my ground mounts are 7FT Length with 2FT underground .
obviously that does not need to be exact as long as pole is Level and plum .
Good luck : )

Interesting comments about ground mount - OP I don't mean to hijack your thread, but it looks like ground mount could be the way forward..

I'm toying with the idea of a ground mount v on the wall of the house (scared my mrs) is going to blow her gasket when she sees a 1m dish on the house lol

Just think for a sec when something goes wrong and it will ...how easy it will be to not have to climb a ladder ,
never have to hear complaints about eyesore on the wall , be able to fix dish or motor in secs especially in poor weather
a decent sized Scaffold pole mounted well into the ground it'll catch a lot less wind there is more upsides to ground mounting than sticking a T & K on the gavel having every nosey neighbour and more gawking at it when it moves like its some type of UFO .

You are on the right track just takes a little effort to make it a reality but i'm sure you will be glad when you see whats out there
all of what you seek and much more besides .....Same Advise applies to OP also BTW.
Good luck : )

Yes you're right.

I also have a 1.1 metre dish ground mounted with a motor that does not go beyond about 58 east.

I want to try and get 62 east and a channel that is on 7 west and now apparently it's on 26 east as well.

A 1.2 metre dish will not be much of an upgrade so it will have to be a 1.4.

I'm in two minds about which one to change.

Barney thanks for this much appreciated. I'm not sure what sized dish you've got but does it look massively out of place ground mounted in your garden? I'm more thinking what the neighbours would see through their windows into thr garden, then again all stuff they'd see with it mounted on the wall. Lol

I think I'm going to go for a 1.2m ground mounted / motorised... hopefully should be big enough to pick up most the broadcast feeds from the Midlands to watch most the footy broadcasted across Europe

A 1m will get you almost everything you could ever want. I have a 1.3 is set up saurday and it's big if you have a small garden.

Where did you get the 1.3 dish from?

I could do with one of them.
I've had it since 2009, its a faval dish, its actually 1.3 x 1.2. I don't want to put a direct link here as it could be against the rules. If you google 1.25m Mix Digital Motorised Satellite Dish, its should come up with something similar. :)
