Broadband# grows in Russia

Russia# ended the third quarter with 14,151,000 broadband internet subscribers, or 7% more three months earlier.
Data produced by Advanced Communications and Media and published by ER-Telecom, one of the country’s leading cable operators, also shows that the broadband penetration in Russia stood at 27.2% of households as of the end of September.
Moscow# gained an additional 33,000 broadband subscribers in Q3, the total rising to 3,105,000, or over 70% of all households in the city.
Comstar#, the leading provider in Moscow, had 872,000 subscribers at the end of Q3, claiming a 27% market share. VimpelCom (615,000, 19% market share) was in second place, followed by Akado (603,000, 19%).
The# broadband market in St Petersburg is meanwhile dominated by North#-West Telecom# (NWT)#, which had 365,400 subscribers and a share of 31% at the end of September#.
