Flickr, the most popular image sharing website allows users to keep their uploaded photos organized by making and keeping them under different albums. Photo albums on Flickr are more like the folders on our PC, where we categorize specific files and keep them in different folders accordingly. Since Yahoo! is behind Flickr, you can expect a reliable service from them, but what if it faces some kind of hacking (even Twitter was got hacked), data loss or downtime? There is a chance of loosing all your photos if you have not made a secure backup of Flickr photo albums.

Flickr does not provide any official solution to backup photo albums, but you can use a third party backup solution called FlickrEdit to make backups and download them on to your local computer. It’s basically a Java based application that uses Flickr framework to allows users to view and edit photos in a variety of ways.

FlickerEdit can be accessed by using two different platforms, java based environment or executable file. You can access the java based editing environment here or download the FlickerEdit executable file for Windows. You may also refer to their user guide for better understanding on how to edit images, backup Flickr photos, add comments to individual photos or specific photo sets.
