It has been a challenge to use 12ft or above dishes to catch fringe satellites.

I have been using one and getting signails from satellites which do not have footprint over Sri Lanka. Yet, with a huge dish you can get the signal and thats afantastic experience.

A 3.5 Meter dish is very big but the way things are going nowadays it seems the ideal dish size for weaker feeds but a few years ago this would not have been the case at all but since broadcasters are constantly deliberately reducing various signals on feeds in particular then a 3.5M dish seems about right but since BISS 2 2610 is quickly being introduced a lot of Feeds will not be opening in near future and feed hunting will be very limited if not eliminated altogether .

but for eastern community will always require very big dish sizes just to catch for example 28.2E as for here in EU a very small 60cm dish would easily do the same job .
Even Spain also requires very big dishes to catch UK based channels as beams are focused only on a small area footprint but that can be countered with a large enough dish size .
