Barry Allen XP Beta Kit

Code:
Because of the more and more popular udev I had to adapt the deivce handling Barry Allen

Therefore this is a kind of experimental BA Thread where you have the possibility to help to finish and test this new development, without confusing people used to download their BA kit from the normal BA thread.

Actually thuis thread was planned to never exist, because if my ordered 8k would have been delivered already i would have testet it there myself and simply post a new version 4.7, but this seems to be not possible so far

On the otehr hand, since 1 year I'm struggeling with the extra devices for the device handling for the 8* boxes, which made the code more and more complex, added extra boottime for everybody and this approach is now reaching it's limit of maintenanceability with the new udev

BTW it is sad that I now have to do this in this thread, but if my dealer is not able to deliver a box after 4.5 months. Bit this seems the way it seems to be.

Now about the BA XP kit - it is only a renamed BA 4.8.5 kit to prevent misunderstandings that you simpy install it an everything is as before :-)

What doens't work ath the moment ?

Wally West doesn#t work at the moment - don't even tzry it, the WW support has to be re-added to the kit, but thill only happen if normal BA work on the 7025/800/8000 without WW ans usual.

The Filesystemcheck and device formatting will not work - don't use/try bainit 9* or 8*

The Supprt for MB_*.tar.bz2 images is also no t working yet.

And USB devices are only supported in images if they show up as /media/sda1 or /media/usb, os either add them to the right port or attach only them as the BA doku always said.

And booting from Harddisk is not tested at all - as usual :-)

The kit is simpley there to see if you can unpack nfi files and boot them and if all needed devices how up as usual.

Import is that BA doen't extend the fstab anymore at all, and be also not scared by this - the BA device should be mounted at /media/ba or linked to with the /media/ba link as usual.

So better flash and unpack new images, old images from previoous BA installations should work, but changes BA made there to teh fstab will not be undone.

Well, and how should it work now:

BA devices is mounted as usual but now at the default /meida/ba location or the /media/ba link is pointing there.

In an image without udev everything is mounted via the fstab as before but the BA devices has not to be in the fstab anymore.

Well, and testing this in all variations (with udev image in Flash or on BA device or vice versa) is not your job to test on all enigma2 boxes !

Be carefull, at the moment only sda1 for USB sticsk and hdc1 for CF cards are supported, and hda1 for the harddisk (or hdc1 on the 8k).

Have fun testing BA XP !

Barryallen XPS P1 is a BETA

Code:
