Default Idiot's question about Intelsat 907

Hi All,

Firstly, please excuse my ignorance about a lot of this!

We have an Alma S2210 box which was set up by someone a few years ago so that we could watch BBC/UK terrestrial channels on Intelsat 907. A few days ago, the signal started becoming pixellated and has subsequently disappeared with just 'No Signal' on the screen and very occasionally it connects. We have had periods like this before but not as long and I have always put it down to atmospheric/weather conditions. The wiring coming into the box at the back isn't great, but we can still receive channels on Eurobird 1 (e.g. Forces TV/Keep it Country) perfectly.

So, I have a few questions.

I guess that, because Eurobird is working it isn't a hardware problem?

Could it just be atmospheric conditions and should I just wait it out?

Is Intelsat 907 currently working?

If the answer to the question above is no, what is my best solution?

Again, apologies for my lack of technical expertise in this but I'm just looking for some direction.

Thank you all.

Best, Duncan

Well, just in case anyone else is having difficulties I turned it on tonight and it is working perfectly again so I'm guessing it's atmospheric.

Intelsat 907 went to the graveyard orbit a long while ago,

You have been away from satellite DuncSpur for a very long while,

Time to do some reading to catch up:-
