REAL MADRID and Barcelona have put Arsene Wenger on top of their wanted list.

Real president Ramon Calderon will decide on Monday whether to replace Fabio Capello.

And Arsenal boss Wenger heads the names in the frame.

But, as SunSport revealed exclusively last week, Barca also want the mercurial Frenchman to be Nou Camp chief, as boss Frank Rijkaard is on his way out.

Wenger, 57, has only one year left on his Gunners contract and has said he is unwilling to commit himself beyond 2008.

After close friend David Dein’s controversial departure — and star player Henry now on his way — sources close to Wenger believe he may consider his time has run out.

Calderon admitted: “My sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has spoken to me about Wenger, Ronald Koeman, Michael Laudrup and Bernd Schuster — among others.”

Wenger’s mood has not been lightened by news there is no money for big signings while the club pays off its £250million debt for the Emirates Stadium construction.

American tycoon Stan Kroenke — who paid £75m for a 12 per cent stake and wants to buy the entire club for £650m — has made it clear he will not pump more of his cash into the club until they agree to sell him more shares.
