Can someone explain in simple terms what benefit or use is S2X to satellite enthusiasts?

I am thinking of buying a Gigabyte Blue which has this feature.

You Lnb will be OK for this transmission but you will require a S2X capable Receiver/PC card.

Yes, I knew about having a capable tuner.

Considering the Gigabyte blue and must try and find out if a S2X capable tuner exists for my VU Ultimo 4K.

It hardly seems worth the expense ATM as the French versions of these Swiss TV channels are available via multi-stream,
https://www.flysat.com/e5wa.php

Only 4 TV channels since Feb 2018 no other channels taking up this new transmission type,

I would not be surprised to see these Swiss channels moving over to Eutelsat 5 West B when it launches this summer in a new multi-stream,

33 east has been a failure for Eutelsat when they expected more TV take up here when they advertised this slot as the new Hotbird
Only 29 x TV broadcast from 33 east hardly the migration of 300 to 500 x TV that Eutelsat expected.

Yes, I can see your point about it being not worth the expense.
Perhaps I will just watch and wait for more S2X transmissions before jumping in.
Prices might come down by then also as it is quite new at the moment.

DVB-S2X transmission on 19.2 east

No one updating the info here
https://en.kingofsat.net/pos-19.2E.php

11009 V ceased transmission of Dolby Labs Test Stream1 on 4.01.2018
https://www.flysat.com/astra19.php

Reported here as end of DVB-S2X 25.02 2018
https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-1KR-1L-1M-1N.html

I should have remembered that king of sat is not as up to date as flysat & lyngsat these days,

But to be 14 months out of date is poor for a site that used to be very good.

I do not think DVB-S2X has much of a future for Direct to home TV,

It may be worth buying an S2X receiver if they start to use this transmission type for feeds but this does not look like happening at the moment :(
