Why can the Powervu encrypted channels only be played through the iptv player? Why can't they be played through the dreambox, just like any other satellite channel after oscam decrypts it?

only dreambox receivers,can decrypt those channels,as other channels (read here http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=288857 )
all the other receivers must use stream relay function and internal stream the channel...

no,you are missing something. the softcam key by itself can't do nothing. you are using already an emulator (cccam,or mgcamd,or something other) which is reading the softcam key and decodes...

Hi georgeflu. The softcam.key alone is all that's needed to decrypt Biss channels. No emulator is required. I can confirm that I'm watching biss channels on my dreambox and on my openbox using just a softcam.key file alone.

Regarding powervu, that was new to me. I was wondering why you could only watch powervu as a stream, using the oscam relay function. So without using the stream relay, I can now watch powervu channels on my dreambox 800se as a regular channel and not as a stream?

The softcam.key alone is all that's needed to decrypt Biss channels. No emulator is required.

You're wrong. Key file alone can't do anything. You must have some kind of softcam running.

I was wondering why you could only watch powervu as a stream, using the oscam relay function.

Because most pw channels use DES decryption while satellite receiver use CSA. Dreambox has DES added in the drivers so pw channels can be watched without stream relay.

in dreambox (only) you can watch those channels,as normal channels,just using oscam and disabling "stream relay function" OK? (and now you will ask how to do it)...read more in the link.

about the emulator and the softcam.key, i think that you do not know much about your receiver... yo need the emulator,which will read the softcam.key and decode the channel. do you want to look for it inside your receiver files?

Hi "Kalehr" and "georgeflu". My apologies for the incorrect claim regarding SoftCam.Key not requiring an emulator to read the keys. I made that claim based on the user experience that I had with my Openbox satellite receiver, where configs were done in a more automated way than on a dreambox. Only as of recent, I have been using a Dreambox 800se receiver where softcams and file configurations are carried out in a more manual way than on the Openbox. There's so much more to a Dreambox than to the Openbox. Again, for the record, SoftCam.Key ****DOES**** require a softcam/emulator to be used.

I've also successfully configured oscam without the oscam relay function, making it possible to watch powervu channels as a normal satellite channel, as per the tutorial

You cannot update the file alone,it is linked to lamedb and services.
You need all services files

yes you can update (not the files but only) the lines alone in the excisting files,they will be there (in the favourite package) in the next restart of enigma(2).
the only important,is that the settings of both users,must be same (example sirius 4.8E for both users and not 4.8E in one and 5E for the other,for reading correct the sid)
