To close this thread.
It seems that Irdeto2 cards does not work for some reason with usb2serial-->phoenix. I tried 3 different phoenix interfaces, 3 different usb2serial converters (pl2303 and ftdi), enigma2, sbox, and different cardrservers (newcs, camd3).
Even on Vista ot Linux PC the phoenix+I2 card worked on normal serial port, but not on usb2serial port.

No, I am sick of it. Right now I am using my WRT54GL with OpenWRT as cardserver, and I am quite happy that way. I am prettys sure that this is a card related problem...
Anyway thanks for suggestion.

One more thing - the only hardware difference between DTE direct serial port and usb2serial ports is voltage level on pin3 (txd)- 12V and 5V. May be (just a guess) some specific brands I2 cards need 12V to initialize.
