2. access the box via a ftp using (form what iv read) DCC, but dont know the default user/pass for UR images
3. want to be able put a login/pass on the HTTP login
4. want to be able to change the ftp login/pass to my own custom l/p
5. is DCC best tool to use for this model to edit bouq/services, considering its an enigma image

Any advice greatly appreciated

thanks for that info ferret, i didnt notice that functionality of Technomate Control Center )

Any advice on the splash screen image change? is it a similar process to that for the dbox2? the zapit folder if i remember correctly then converting the picture to a format recognisable by the box?

cheers

Sorry mate customizing images like that is not something ive ever had a interest in, functionality is what interests me.

Let us know though mate if you succeed.

just a quick bit of feedback.

I suceeded in:
changing the ftp l/p for the TM500 using your post above

but, I didnt manage to create a http login prompt for the Mini Web Interface, you get this by holding down the standby buton as the 500 powers-up (as u no doubt already know). access to this http page is unrestricted (the Mini Web Interface, that is). I really wanted to put a http popup l/p on that. The http l/p comes up fine when the box boots normally and you try to access the local http address - it is indeed as you said the same as the ftp l/p I changed earlier. But its the 'Mini Web Interface' that I really wanted to secure.
Any ideas how?

If not any advice on how to remove this Mini Web Interface from the actual image itself?

Also I had no joy changing the splash screen as yet. If you got any pointers, ive love to hear dem.

cheers 4 all ur help so far btw

Hi mate

Below is a brief guide done by my good mate voyger.

See if it helps you

Quick How to Miniweb

1. Turn the AC Power OFF. Press and hold the Power Button on the Front Panel and at the same time, turn the AC Power ON (whilst still holding the Power Button). You have to keep holding the Power Button until 3 numbers are shown on the Front Panel’s Display.

2. These numbers are the last 3 numbers of the IP Address of the receiver. For example, if the last 3 numbers shown are ‘164’, then the IP Address will be: 192.168.1.164 or 192.168.0.164 depending on your router’s default first 7 numbers

3. Now enter the IP Address into your Internet Browser

4. After typing in the IP address, press Enter on your keyboard. The Miniweb page will be displayed

5. Go to the Upgrade Firmware section and click on the ‘Search’ Button and select the image file

6. Click on the ‘Download' button to start the update.

7. After the installation has finished, you need to manually reboot the receiver.

Have you giving your image a password? UR image has not got a pass.

Not sure if you can add a pass to mini web i dont own a 600 but setup a couple.

As for editing files it depends on what files and were in the image. What files and location are we talking about ?

the mini web interface files are in the /home/http directory via ftp, cant modify anything there unfortunately.

Should I look at actual image modding tools, to modify the image then load the box with it? am at a bit of a loss for next move

To do that mate the image would need to be unpacked to a ext3 hard drive. So you'll need good Linux knowledge to start with.

Any modding like that can be very risky if you not 100% sure you know what your doing.
