This is the best thing to do.Instead of adding the older libcrypto, you can add a symlink
ln -sf /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.2 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8
This applies to OpenVix, OpenBlackhole, OpenATV and other current OE-A images.
