Spain suspends sports streaming site

The Commercial Court in Spain’s La Coruña has ordered the suspension of a sports streaming site named Rojadirecta.
According to Le Monde this follows complaints by the channel Gol TV and audiovisual group Mediapro, which holds most of the football rights in the country.
Rojadirecta, which is managed by a compnay named Puerto 80 Projects, offers a directory of internet links that allow viewers to watch live sports matches on a streamed basis free of charge.
It has defended itself by saying that it has only hosted content brough by internet users and always removed, as soon as possible, links reported to it as being illegal.
Rojadirecta, which has 20 days to appeal the court’s decision, has also been ordered to compensate the rights holders.
