'Dom-2' Hackers Hit Wrong TNT Site

Television viewers unhappy with the reality show "Dom-2" organized a hacker attack on TNT's web site last week. Unfortunately, instead of attacking the television network, the web site of the Dutch courier was hacked.

The proposal to punish the network for running "Dom-2" appeared last Thursday on a popular quotations web site, Bash.org.ru. An anonymous author posted a piece of code that could be used to organize a distributed denial-of-service attack on the network's site.

The initiator of the attack, however, mixed up his victims: The site of the network TNT is located at tnt-tv.ru, while the attack was targeted at tnt.ru, which is registered to the Russian arm of the Dutch logistical company TNT Express.

Last Friday, employees at the Moscow office of the courier were left for an hour without Internet, IT director Andrei Postovalov told Vedomosti.

The courier registered several dozen IP addresses that were used to carry out the attack -- mostly computers from Siberia and the Urals. But since the attack didn't cause the company any serious damage, TNT is not planning to press the matter further, Postovalov said.

The television network had heard nothing about the incident, its press service said.
