Government should commit to 100 Mbps

There are calls for the government to make a proper commitment to the provision of super fast broadband that can offer a 100 Mbps fibre to the home (FTTH) service, by i3 Group (formerly known as H2O networks), which provides this service through the sewers.

Elfred Thomas, the CEO of i3 Group, has been saying that the country could be left behind as the digital revolution moves on.

Under the government’s plans, the universal service obligation would see a mere 2 Mbps as the minimum service that internet service provider would need to offer to consumers.

Even the introduction of a fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) broadband service would leave the UK behind the rest of the world, although it has to be said that FTTC would be an acceptable stepping stone to a full UK network of FTTH services.
