Carphone Warehouse split could produce thousands of jobs
Normally, when companies merge, there is a loss of jobs, so it stands to reason that when a company demerges then this should result in an increase of jobs.
It looks as if this could be true, especially when it comes to the Carphone Warehouse, where it is estimated as many as ten thousand new jobs could be created over the next four years.
The jobs will mainly come from the opening of up to seventy new retail outlets around the UK as part of the company’s joint venture with Best Buy.
The demerger is expected to take place sometime next year and the retail division is doing well with phone connections up twelve per cent during the last quarter, whereas TalkTalk is relatively flat but still remains the third largest ISP in the UK.
