Pirate Bay blocked by IWF, or is it?
At first, it seemed that the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) was responsible for blocking the bit torrent site The Pirate Bay.
This followed attempts by BT’s mobile broadband customers to connect to the site, only to receive a message saying that their attempt to access this site had been blocked due to a new content code.
What made this more convincing was that BT posted a link to the IWF site for more information.
It is clear that BT’s customers would have thought that The Pirate Bay had been entered onto the IWF list of sites that are to be blocked, however it turns out that this may not be so.
The IWF claims that it had no part in blocking The Pirate Bay and commented that it does not have any role when it comes to P2P traffic, so it seems that BT is blocking The Pirate Bay under an agreement with other providers.
